"America's Home"
by Rod Chase
|
In researching material for this piece, Chase spent a week in
Washington, DC. During early morning and twilight hours, he
photographed many buildings and landmarks to get a feel for the light
and color. During the daytime hours, he visited The National Archives
and the Library of Congress pouring over hundreds of old black and
white photographs to prepare himself to paint the buildings as they
were - as opposed to as they are today. His exquisite, elegant style
makes him perhaps the finest photo-realist working today.
