Jackson referred to the four artillery pieces pictured as "his disciples." Their carriages were originally painted red and are shown as they probably would after having weathered a year in combat. Today the guns can be found on the grounds of the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia. They were refurbished and their carriages restored to their original red coloration only within the last year.
